Captain and President

2015 Captain's Drive

2015 Captain Peter Milner along with the new President Paul Hesford started their year in office with the first drive on Sunday 8 March at the traditional start to the new year Captains Drive In 4BBB competition

Their striking attire drew many comments. Some of them even positive!!

80 golfers played on the day along with the pair in somewhat soggy conditions!

The winners on the day were Ken Lappin and Bernard McCabe with a tremendous score of 43 points

Best wishes from all at HMGC to our new Captain and President for their year in office

Heaton Moor Golf Club celebrated its Centenary in 1992. From 9-hole beginnings on leased land, our ‘Oasis in Suburbia’ – an 18 hole, 6000 yd par 70 course and well-developed Clubhouse - is now wholly owned by its members and is guaranteed to provide a local and friendly golfing facility for the future.

Set in a mature and protected conservation area, the gently undulating parkland course has two separate 9 holes starting from the Clubhouse. As a member and if time is short, the layout lends itself to playing just a few holes, if preferred, since there are several starting points. On a light summer evening it is hard to resist slipping out for ‘a bit of practice’ and you always have the added comfort of knowing that you are never more than a short walk from the 19th!

You will find that the main challenge over this well-maintained course is one of accuracy, both to avoid the bunkers-a-plenty and, particularly, the hundreds of trees that line the relatively narrow fairways. But don’t relax when you reach the greens! There are lots of subtle borrows to test your skill with the putter.

A small practice ground adjoins the main drive and there are practice putting greens by the Clubhouse and the first tee.

A warm welcome is extended to visiting golfers and members alike. The kitchen and bar are open from 12 noon until late, providing drinks, light snacks and meals.

The Club is accessed from Mauldeth Rd, Heaton Mersey and is just a few minutes from Jn 1 of the M60 motorway (Stockport Town Centre)
