Membership of HMGC offers a variety of golfing possibilities depending only on personal availability and preference.
MEN’S SECTION
The main competition day for Full Members is Saturday. Over the winter months (Nov – March) the format is mainly 4 BBB with a keenly contested Winter League in operation plus other comps and the occasional 4 man team variation – Texas Scramble and the like!

Once the summer months commence, the format switches mainly to singles golf, the winter hibernators emerge, and there is a scramble to find suitable slots on the competition sheets! The main attraction is always to try and qualify for the 36 hole Captain’s Final in September – currently up to 8 chances through the summer to be in the top 100 players with the best 3 medal aggregates. But each Saturday provides a fresh challenge to break into the prize frame or to maintain or trim your handicap. Supplementary events include Captain’s and President’s Sundays, inter-club team matches and singles and four-ball knockouts that can help to fill the light summer evenings.

Midweek daytime players can join in the ‘Monday Fiddle’ – just turn up around midday and compete in a singles stableford for cash returns! Or you may prefer to join the long established Wednesday Section that operates throughout the year, offers a complete competition mix and keeps just about everyone happy! |
Our thriving Seniors Section (over 60s) arranges exchange matches during the summer with several local clubs when participants enjoy 4 ball matchplay contests, a convivial atmosphere, plus a meal and all for a nominal charge.
And if you fancy golfing breaks to near and distant parts, there are several trips organised by members who are sometimes looking for extras – please check our 'Stop Press' page for opportunities.
LADIES SECTION
Currently, the Ladies Section has over 70 members plus 36 non-playing members. The golfing calendar is varied and full and most events are held on Tuesdays. New members receive a very friendly welcome and are encouraged to enter competitions as soon as they have attained a handicap. Matches are arranged on a regular basis with other Clubs in the summer season and at least one exchange day with another Club is arranged annually.

Heaton Moor Golf Club is noted for its friendly atmosphere and camaraderie. This is particularly evident in the level of our Mixed golf activity. Several main competitions are held and our 12-hole Coronation Cup runs throughout the summer when cards can be taken out at any time - members arranging their own foursomes – an 18 hole final being played in October between the top 20 pairs based on best 4 card aggregates.

JUNIOR SECTION
Our Junior Section of almost 100 is particularly active and has a full fixture list of competitions. We are particularly keen to support and encourage our junior members, recognising that many of them can progress and provide a strong nucleus of homegrown members for the future of the Club. Student Membership category is available for those who are away in full time education, whilst those over 18 who remain can progress through the Intermediate category and join in the Club competition schedule.
